Yesterday I cut the hydrangeas and set them in water in this large vase. I keep them like this until the water has mostly evaporated and the leaves begin to dry up. I've found in the past that if I wait too long after Thanksgiving the frost may come unannounced and damage the flowers before I take them in. I only take in a few bouquets and although there are masses of flowers still on four of the five shrubs, many of them had already been marred by the ravages of the summer - probably too much direct sunlight and not enough water. Hydrangeas need a lot of water in order to flourish. But looking out over the yard these amazing bushes still give off such beauty.

Hydrangeas - your best bang for your buck - enjoy them outdoors throughout the summer and then indoors - dried- throughout the winter.

I do love hydrangeas! Our lives and home have been brightened by one of your beautiful dried bouquets.
A beautiful reminder that summer is indeed gone for this year. So lovely that many plants continue to bring pleasure even though they keep changing and going through their cycle.
Hopefully we as people will bring pleasure to others even though we are moving along in our cycle of life.
